Workshops are offered semi-annually in the spring and fall, based on interest expressed.  A big THANK YOU to all past participants for making these on-going workshops a huge success!  Dates for the fall sessions will be set in late August.

 
 Introduction to the Calculations and ChildView® Tool (full day session):
  • Provides an overview of the decisions and calculations in the Child Support Guidelines using the ChildView® program as a calculation tool
  • Discusses the interrelationship between the Guidelines and accounting / tax principles, laws and calculations
  • Brief introduction to the property statement screens and reports
  • Provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience doing Guideline calculations of various complexities
  • Brief introduction to the our spousal support calculation tools including the "Spousal Support Advisory Guideline Calculator", the "Spousal Support Analyzer" and the "Lump Sum Payment Calculator."

Prerequisite: desire to learn (and some familiarity with ChildView® is helpful but not mandatory)

 Income Determination (morning session):

Specific focus on:

  • Income determination including self-employment income (section 16 with schedule III adjustments)
  • Discussion of the pattern of income (section 17) and its application
  • Imputing income where a corporation is involved (section 18)
  • Imputing pre-tax income from a cash based source (section 19)
  • Analysis of case scenarios using source documents such as financial statements and income tax returns
  • Opportunities to gain hands-on experience

Prerequisite: Previous attendance at an "Introduction to the Calculations and ChildView® Tool" session or equivalent level of knowledge regarding the tax and Guideline issues presented in that full day session.

Spousal Support (afternoon session):

Specific focus on:

  • In-depth look at the calculations under the "Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines" (SSAG) and use of ChildView®'s Spousal Support Advisory Guideline Calculator
  • Further exploration of spousal support using the "Spousal Support Analyzer"
  • Discussion and use of the "Lump sum Calculator"
  • Opportunities to gain hands-on experience

Prerequisite: Previous attendance at an "Introduction to the Calculations and ChildView® Tool" session or equivalent level of knowledge regarding the tax and Guideline issues presented in that full day session.
